School of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering was founded in 1956. There are 39 teaching classes, 1200 students and six majors: Mechatronics Technology, Computerized Numerical Control Technology (3D digital design and 3D printing), Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Technology, New Energy Automotive Technology, Mechanical Manufacturing, and Automation and Robotics Technology, among which, the Mechatronics Technology is the national and Beijing municipal key construction major.The Numerical Control Technology is the key construction major of Beijing municipal.

SMEE develops Sino-foreign cooperation in education actively:In 2010, mechanical and electrical faculty had conduced IHK Mechatronics professional talent cultivation project together with the Dresden University of Technology. In 2014, automotive faculty has introduced the German "Hug Model", aiming to cultivate international high-end talents specialized in cars with the German Baden-Wurttemberg education cooperation. 

SMEE is composed of 62 full-time teachers, including 5 professors and 19 associate professors, 2 senior engineers, 10 high level practice guidance teachers from the enterprise. There are one State Teaching Master of colleges and universities, two Beijing Teaching Masters of colleges and universities, eight Beijing outstanding young and middle-aged backbone teachers. They make up outstanding teams such as one national excellent teaching team, one Beijing excellent teaching team, two Beijing higher education academic innovation team, and one Beijing higher education specialty innovation team. 

There are more than forty training rooms, ten specialty machine rooms, six technical service centers and four production workshop built with enterprises in the college. The Car Training Base is an essential project under the support of the central finance. The Electrical and Mechanical Training Base is the national Mechotronics Technology vocational skills training base. Numerical Control Training Base is the Beijing municipal exemplary training base and the national cultivation base for most-needed skilled talents.
