Founded in 1981, an essential unit of the college, the SFE, undertakes the tasks of designing and implementing fundamental courses, under which there are four teaching and research sections: English, Mathematics, Chinese and Science.

The school has devoted years to improving the teaching quality of the fundamental courses, trying to lay a solid foundation for students' further specialized study. The high quality teaching of fundamental courses enhances the overall development of students.
