School of Civil Engineering and Surveying (SCES), founded in 1956, is a renowned base of training skilled personnel of Beijing Polytechnic College. In 2014, SCES was honored National Outstanding Achievement Awards of Skills Training by Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.

In recent years, based on the strategy of coordinated development of Beijing Tianjin and Hebei Province, SCES adjusts and optimizes the syllabus and structure of specialties to meet the need of talent of the Beijing urban construction. SCES offers five main specialties, including Engineering Survey Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, Construction Costs, Architectural Decoration Technology and Design of Metal Craft and Jewelry. Engineering Survey Technology and Architectural Engineering Technology were appraised to be the National demonstration key construction project major. Construction Cost was the key specialties supported by central finance.

SCES has a reasonably structured high-quality faculty team and training condition. At present, there are 61 teachers, including 10 professors,19 associated professors and one senior engineer. Most of the teachers have experience in engineering practice and double-qualified qualification. Some of the teacher have got professional qualification of primary registered construction engineer, cost engineer, safety engineer, supervision engineer, Baoyu stone appraiser, professional qualification assessor, UAV unmanned aerial vehicle driving licenses. There are 1 highly creative program teacher, 3 famous teaching masters in the college of Beijing, 2 Innovation teams of Beijing, 1 Beijing March Eighth red banner pacesetter, 1 National professional education advanced individual ,1 Teacher of Excellence in Beijing, 8 first prizes of National vocational college information teaching competition. With the development of new technology and talent demand of urban construction, 42 training rooms were built, including UVA surveying, green architecture and so on. The training rooms feature various kinds of most advanced equipment, including 3-D laser scanning system, UVA surveying system, laser tracker and so on. SCES also has a national base for deficient skill-oriented talents, a model of technology education training base for construction teachers of Beijing, a model of technology education training base of Beijing.

SCES is a staunch force in scientific research of Beijing Polytechnic college. The school has 2 research teams which have a certain influence on the industry. In recent 5 years, 20 municipal research projects were accomplished, 1 Beijing Natural Science Foundation Proposed Program was successfully declared, 5 provincial awards on technology advancement were rewarded. Technical Services projects were also carried out in the way of school and enterprise cooperation.

SCES actively explores the way of improving the talent training quality of vocational education and have gained delightful achievement, which include the construction national teaching resource library of surveying and mapping, 2 national top-quality courses, 1 prestigious national award, 5 provincial level teaching achievement awards, 7 national projected teaching materials and 9 championships of National Vocational Student Skills Competition.
