At 10 a.m. on July 18, 2022, Double-High Construction of Beijing Polytechnic College - Students’ Summer Camp for Intercultural Communication and Language Application Ability Improvement was started smoothly online. 50 outstanding students from 5 colleges(Electromechanical Engineering College, Architecture & Surveying Engineering College, Information Engineering College, Humanity, Law & Management College and Basic Education College) attended the 10-day summer camp. Academic Director of the summer camp project of British Association for Education, Science and Technology Ms. Cristina Iacobone said in her speech that the project of intercultural communication and language application improvement for outstanding students of our schoolwas in line with the current world trend of globalization. English proficiencywas one of the important abilities required for international talents today. For the 50 outstanding students of our school, it wasvery wise to choose this summer camp project. She hopedthat the students of our schoolcould cherish the opportunity and become better in the ten days of study.

Meng Qing, Deputy Director of the International Department of our school, said in her speech that all students were the elite students of our school, as well as the international versatile technical talents in the future. In this summer camp, through the close cooperation with British Association for Education, Science and Technology, University of Cambridge, Middlesex University and so on, our school hired high-level Chinese and foreign teachers as visiting professors to carry out “cloud lecture”, which launched a new mode of “online communication and cloud learning” for international exchange and cooperation. By doing so, we could help students to improve their English learning ability, broaden their international horizon, and improve their comprehensive quality. It laid a good foundation for training students to become high-end technical and skilled talents with “global vision, external ability to serve society and internal perception of happiness”.Moreover, Deputy Director Meng Qing put forward requirements and wishes to the students who participated inthecamp, hoping that theycouldwork hard, attendon time, be ready to help each other, and learn something really.

The 10-day summer camp mainly included language application ability, policies for studying abroad, intercultural communication and so on. In the final assessment, the students should submit their learning feelings and experiences, and give a 2-3 minute speech in English. As a construction unit of a high-level higher vocational school with Chinese characteristics, our university is orientedto“being high-end, quality, informative and internationalized”. Elite students from various colleges were selected to participate in this summer camp. The goal was to raise students’ English ability in communication, improve their learning methods, enhance their existing knowledge reserve, and finally train them to be international high-quality technical and skilled versatile talents, so as to further raise the ability of contribution of students from our school to the construction of “four centers” in the capital, andmake positive contributions to building the school into a world-class higher vocational college with distinctive characteristics.
