BPC was Invited to Attend the 2022 International Chinese Education Conference and Successfully Held the 2022 “​Chinese+TVET” Educatio

The “2022 International ChineseEducationConference” was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing on December 8. As one of the parallel forums of the “2022 International ChineseEducationConference”, the 2022 “Chinese+TVET” Education Development Forum was successfully held at the China National Convention Center on the afternoon of December 9. Sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, the forum was jointly organized by Beijing Polytechnic College and ChinesePlus/Wuzhou Hanfeng Network Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. The forum was carried outboth online and offline.

An Jiangying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of our school, and Zhou Yan, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of our school were invited to attend the opening ceremony of the conference, as well as the 2022 “Chinese+TVET” Education Development Forum. President An Jiangying was invited to preside over the first topic of the forum, and Vice President Zhou Yan was invited to make a wonderful speech on the second topic of the forum.

The “Chinese+TVET” Education Development Forum focused on three topics: promoting “Chinese+TVET” education to better servethe high-quality development of “Belt and Road Initiative”, building a support system for “Chinese+TVET” education, and promoting “Chinese+TVET” education overseaswith joint efforts of vocational colleges and enterprises. Director of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of EducationMa Jianfei, Secretary-General of the China-ASEAN Center Shi Zhongjunand other leaders attended the forum and delivered speeches. President of Beijing Polytechnic CollegeAn Jiangying, Deputy Director of China Nonferrous Metal Industry Human Resource Center (CNMIHR)Song Kai and President of Nanjing Vocational College of Information TechnologyTian Min presided over the three topics of the forum respectively. 17 Chinese and foreign guests made wonderful speeches on the topics of the forum. Heads of relevant Chinese and foreign education authorities, representatives of Chinese and foreign universities, heads of internationally renowned language and cultural institutions and international organizations, experts and scholars, and representatives of enterprises attended the forum both online and offline.

Remarks by Dr. Ma Jianfei from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education

In his speech, Ma Jianfei indicated that language was a bridge of communication and skills were the keys to development. To achieve greater development of practical cooperation between China and other countries in various fields, we couldn’t do without the support of high-quality talents, especially inter-disciplinary talents mastering languages and skills. To vigorously implement the “Chinese+TVET” education overseas and promote the integrated development of international Chinese education and vocational education were not only necessary for the innovative development of international Chinese education, but also necessaryfor helping overseas enterprises to train local inter-disciplinarytalents with “language proficiency, technical proficiency and cultural literacy”, and evennecessary for serving the high-quality development of “Belt and Road Initiative”. In the future, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education would adhere to the concept of integrated development and practical application of Chinese education and vocational education, further align the needs of all parties, strengthen teacher training and resource development, and take multiple measures to promote the high-quality development of “Chinese+TVET” education.

Remarks by H.E. Mr. Shi Zhongjun from China-ASEAN Center

Shi Zhongjun said in his speech that education was an important force to promote the development of human society. In recent years, vocational education became a hot topic around the world. It played an important role in eradicating poverty, increasing employment, improving workers’ skills, upgrading the service industry, and maintaining the stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain. The China-ASEAN Center was ready to work with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and other relevant parties to promote the in-depth development of vocational education exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, build a long-term mechanism for vocational education exchanges and cooperation in the “post-pandemic” era, enhance the international level and core competitiveness of vocational schools in various countries, and make greater contribution to serving economic and social development and promoting people-to-people exchanges.

The first forum topic was promoting “Chinese+TVET” education to better servethe high-quality development of “Belt and Road Initiative”.The topic focused on the construction of new educational platforms such as “Chinese+TVET” education, language and vocational education institute and Chinese Workshop. Representatives of sino-foreign cooperative universities and enterprises for projects such as Chinese Workshop were invited to share good practices in the process of cooperation, exchange experience,and exchange ideas on how to better assist the training of enterprises’ local talents and promote the development of enterprise localization. Secretary General of Vocational Education Committee of the Ministry of Education of Thailand Tanu Wojindar, Director of the Department of Higher Major and Graduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan Mirzazoda Navorus, Counselor of Lao Embassy in China Jin Tawang, Deputy General Manager of China Nonferrous Mining Group Kong Fexin, General Manager of HRDepartment of CHALCO Shi Sen, Deputy General Manager of China Railway Resources Group, General Manager of Huagang Mining Group Li Sheng and other guests made wonderful speeches on the topic.

The second forumtopic wasbuilding a support system for “Chinese+TVET” education. The topics focused on the development of “Chinese+TVET” teaching resources, the training of “double-qualified” teachers, the construction of “Chinese+TVET” project base and so on, and discussed the development, promotion and application of vocational Chinese proficiency standards, how to better develop vocational Chinese teaching resources, how to better realize technical empowerment, and the construction of digital teaching resources and platforms. President of Nanjing Vocational University of Industry TechnologyXie Yonghua, President of The Open University of HarbinLiu Jianguo, Vice President of Beijing Polytechnic CollegeZhou Yan, Director of Language and Character Resources Research Center of Beijing Normal UniversitySong Jihua and Professor of Beijing Language and Culture UniversityCui Yonghua shared their wonderful views on the topic.

The third forumtopic waspromoting “Chinese+TVET” education overseas with joint efforts of vocational colleges and enterprises. Heads of domestic vocational and technical colleges and representatives of enterprises were invited to discuss how to carry out the cooperation between university and enterprise and how to promote international exchange programs organized by vocational colleges to improve the level of internationalization and help “Chinese+TVET” education to increase its scale and influence overseas. During the period of forum, President An Jiangying of our school was also interviewed by CCTV News. President An indicated that “Chinese+TVET” education would help to serve international production capacity cooperation and help Chinese enterprises to go global, thus effectively solving the problem of talent shortage in Chinese enterprises. Moreover, the “Chinese+TVET” training could not only improve local people’s Chinese language proficiencyand skills, but also increase their income, promote local economic and social development, and help to promote people-to-people exchanges between China and other countries, so itwas well received by the local people.

The Guidelines on Promoting High-quality Development of Vocational Education issued by the General Office of the Communist Party and the General Office of the State Council clearly indicated that it was necessary to actively “promote vocational education to ‘go global’ and establish a ‘Chinese+TVET’development model”. Therefore, we shall gather the strength of various industries, enterprises, vocational colleges and other parties to jointly build the “Chinese+TVET” education system, promote the integrated development of international Chinese education and vocational education, so as to cultivate more versatile talentswith proficiency in Chinese language and business for the world, serve the supply-sidereform of human resources in overseas enterprises, and establish a new mode of sharing the development fruits of cooperative countries. It is not only the development need of international Chinese education to keep pace with the times, but also the inevitable requirement of the international development of vocational education.

The successful holding of the 2022 “Chinese+TVET” Education Development Forum will provide references for exploring the development path of vocational education with Chinese characteristics, as well as how to better serve Chinese language learners around the world and help China’s vocational education to “go global”. As the “Chinese+TVET” education practice and research base of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, our university will take the initiative to continue to enhance our international influence and competitiveness by taking the “Chinese+TVET” education as the feature, taking quality improvement as the core, taking integration of production and education as the approach, and taking pilot projects as the guide. We will promote the building of a new high-quality development system of “Chinese+TVET” education, and promote the high-quality integrated development of international Chinese education and vocational education. With this forum as an opportunity, we will open a new chapter in the integrated development of “Chinese+TVET” education, vigorously promote people-to-people exchanges, mutual learning of civilizations and people-to-people ties between China and other countries, and contribute our strength from Beijing Polytechnic College to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
