On December 7, the World Chinese Language Conference 2023 opened at the China National Convention Center. The theme of the World Chinese Language Conference this year is “Chinese for the World, Openness into the Future”.Gao Xijun, Secretary of the Party Committee, and An Jiangying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of our College were invited to attend the plenary session of the World Chinese Language Conference. The plenary session was hosted by Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Educationand Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the People’s Republic of China. On the morning of December 8, the 2023“Chinese+TVET” Integrated Development Forum was successfully held in Conference Room 310 of the National Convention Center.The forum was co-organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, Ministry of Education, Beijing Polytechnic College and Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology. The 2023“Chinese+TVET” Integrated Development Forumfocused on three major topics of “Chinese+TVET” education services for high-quality development of the Belt and Road, the new mode of “Chinese+ TVET” education international development and “Chinese+TVET” teaching resources development and cultivation of new-type personnel. More than 300 people attended the forum, including heads of education authorities of various countries, representatives of universities and vocational colleges at home and abroad, and representatives of industries and enterprises.

Huang Hui, Deputy Director of Vocational Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education, Wang Zhigang, General Inspector of Shandong Department of Education (Deputy departmental-level), Jin Dawang,Counselor of Education and Culture of Embassy of The Lao People’s Democratic Republic in China, Xie Chengjie, Director of the Non-ferrous Metal Industry Talent Center,and Ma Jun, Vice-general Manager of the HR Department of China Communications Construction Company Limited, made keynote speech on Topic One, respectively. The speakers put forward new ideas, new methods and new paths on how to promote “Chinese+TVET” education services for high-quality development of the Belt and Road in a more focused, practical and effective manner.

Forum Topic Two was hosted by Bapak Yaya Sutarya, the Senior Advisor to the General Officeof Teachers and Education Personnel, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Indonesiaand the Deputy Director of the Open Regional Learning Center of the Organization of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education. Gao Xijun, Secretary of the Party Committee of our College, made a keynote speech entitled “Exploration and practice of internationalization of ‘Chinese+TVET’” in Topic Two, in which, he introduced the situation ofexploration and practice of our College in “Chinese+TVET” from several aspects, such as innovative practical projects related to “Chinese+TVET”, carrying out the characteristic training of “Chinese+TVET”, strengthening the construction of teaching resources of“Chinese+TVET”, andgiving play to the role of “Chinese+ TVET” base think tank. Moreover, he proposed prospects and thoughts on the future development of the “Chinese+TVET” education in our College. Secretary Gao pointed out that our College will enhance multi-party collaboration, strengthen the leading role of Center for International Education on“Chinese+TVET”, attach importance to scientific and technological empowerment, promote the digitalization of“Chinese+TVET”education,promote study and researchsimultaneously, facilitate the system construction for high quality development of“Chinese+TVET”, adhere to the principle ofled by standards, promote the standardized development of “Chinese+TVET”, deepen the integration of language and skill and promote the integrated development of “Chinese+ TVET” education.

On the new development mode of internationalization of “Chinese+TVET” education, they also put forward new thoughts and prospects on exploring a new path to promote the deep integrated development of vocational education and international Chinese language education from diversified perspectives.

The speakers, focusing on the theme of Topic Three, shared their experience in mode of development of“Chinese+TVET” teaching resources and cultivation of “Chinese+TVET” international versatile talents.

At this Forum, friends from all walks of life around the world carried extensive and in-depth exchanges on the integrated development of “Chinese+TVET”.The successof the 2023 “Chinese+TVET” Integrated Development Forum has built a good platform for diversified cooperation, exchanges and mutual learning to foster the vocational education to go abroad and promote “Chinese+TVET” education to serve construction of the Belt and Road in a better manner.

During the period of the World Chinese Language Conference, our College also participated in a series of activities of the Conference. In the results release activity of the annual academic conference of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching, Secretary Gao Xijun acted as an opening guest for a series of teaching textbooks such as VocationalChinese Proficiency Level Standards, series of textbooks of General Vocational Chinese, and series of textbooks of New Silk Road Chinese+. Zhou Yan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of our College, was also invited to participate in the Global ChinesePlus Conference & Launching Ceremony of Language Exhibition. She, on behalf of our College, also received the honor ofChinesePlus Digital Education Gold Medal Cooperative Institution.In addition, the Conference also has language resources and digital exhibition area, the ChinesePlus exhibition area and the China education international exchange exhibition area.At the booth of Beijing Language and Culture University, teachersfrom the School of Architecture, Surveying and Mapping Engineering of our College and international Chinese teachers from the School of Applied Chinese of Beijing Language and Culture Universityjointly demonstrated the on-the-spot teaching of “Chinese+TVET” course— “Get to Know UAV”, which was reported by Chinanews.com.

In the future, as one of the two Centers for International Education on“Chinese+TVET” in China under theCenter for Language Education and Cooperation, Ministry of Education, our College will continuously explore the sustainable development of “Chinese+TVET”, spare no efforts to promote the development of “Chinese+TVET” education, bring new and more talents for the economic and social development of the Belt and Road countries, serve the high-quality development of co-construction of the Belt and Road, open wider to the outside world in respect of China education in the new era and strive to realize the good visions of human community with a shared future.
