Dear Friends from Zambia, Ladies and Gentlemen:

Good Morning!

On behalf of Beijing Polytechnic College, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you all. Welcome to Beijing, the Capital of China. Welcome to BPC. And welcome to the China Nonferrous Metal Mining (CNMC) group training classes for overseas staff. Here we will spend a productive and enjoyable 21 days together.

Beijing’s history dates back three millennia. It has served as China’s capital for nearly 1,000 years. It is a city of both the old and the new, home to a multitude of ancient sites that bear witness to the glories of Chinese civilization, yet a vital and modern metropolis that now stands at the forefront of technology. Beijing has hosted numerous international events, such as the 2008 Summer Olympic Games and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) gathering. This past May, Beijing hosted the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Now, Beijing is actively and vigorously preparing for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Beijing is home to a vast array of world cultural heritage sites and places of interest. For this training session, we have arranged a number of cultural excursions including visits to the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace as well as several cultural activities. In this manner we hope to enable you to better understand the essence of Chinese history and Chinese culture.

Established in 1956, BPC is located in Shijingshan District in the western part of Beijing. At the foot of Yanshan Mountain and adjacent to the Yongding River, BPC is among the finest and most influential exemplary higher vocational colleges across China. The programs of study we offer are nationally ranked and highly competitive, including Mechatronics Technology，CNC Technology，Industrial Robotics Technology,Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance Technology, Surveying Technology, Jewelry Design and Processing, Computer Network Technology. Our college operates with distinctive features and has achieved successful teaching results. We focus on the overall development of our students, we strive for meeting the needs of regional industries and enterprises, and we make great efforts to constantly improve and perfect our teaching. In keeping with these efforts, we have set up a Key Professional Teaching Resources Library at the national level, as well as ten National Model Excellence Courses. The National Excellence Courses are ranked 1st in shared resources among all Beijing vocational schools.  When it comes to student skills competitions, our students have won 35 first prizes, 35 second prizes and 22 third prizes in the National Skills Competitions for Vocational Schools over the past several years. BPC is ranked number one in terms of its total scores among all higher vocational colleges nationwide. BPC has also been recognized as one of the top 50 colleges in China for the employment of graduates.

At Beijing Polytechnic College, we have brought the best teaching brains together. Led by National Scholars and Beijing Municipal level Scholars, we have assembled a formidable education team. Indeed, many members of BPC’s teaching faculty are “double-positioned teachers," which means they can teach students professional theory while simultaneously offering guidance in technological practice. They are not only College Scholars, but also experienced technicians and professionals. Our teaching faculty ranks first in IT-based teaching competitions among all higher vocational colleges nationwide.

BPC also boasts some of Beijing’s best life amenities and teaching facilities. All facilities in our laboratory and training bases are advanced and sophisticated. Our gymnasium, athletic track, tennis courts, and library provide the college community with a high level of comfort and recreation.

This year, we have sent four outstanding educators to Zambia to carry out training classes in CNMC Zambia branch, and make preparations to establish China-Zambia Polytechnic College based at the Luansha Technical Institute. Mr. Wang Jun and Mr. Liu Jian, who are sitting beside you, have spent three months in Zambia. Two of our education professionals are still in Zambia, providing instruction in computer technology and industrial Chinese language. Starting this year, we are going to offer training classes to some 150 CNMC overseas staff. You are the first participants in this program to arrive in China. Soon hereafter, more friends will arrive at BPC from Belt and Road Initiative Countries, including Myanmar, Indonesia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Laos, and Congo, for further professional development. During your stay here at BPC, you will learn such advanced technologies and management skills as Electrician and Bench work,Welding,CNC technology and Network, and UAV technology (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). Moreover, you will also have the opportunity to pay a visit to CNMC to learn more about its group culture.
